No. Nearly half our stock is straightforward retail. We carry many of the clothing, shoe, jewelry, and accessories lines you'll find in New York boutiques, chains like Urban Outfitters, catalogues like Delia's, and even large department stores like Macy's (but we don't mark it up like they do!). A lot of our jewelry is locally made or hand-crafted for us by independent artisans. We also carry select vintage items from the 1930s-1980s, and take clothing and accessories on trade or by consignment.
No, all our stock is exclusively limited to apparel, footwear, and accessories.
No—we only sell our retail lines through our website, with the exception of an occasional vintage piece.
The consignor receives 50% of the price at which items are sold, after they sell. The consignment contract period is for 60 days. Consignment payments may be collected in person (dependent upon management availability), or used as store credit. Any money due to the consignor at the conclusion of the consignment contract period will be mailed within 60 days of the contract expiration date.
No, all consignment payments are made by check. The IRS likes it that way.
Trade customers receive an estimated 60-65% of the price at which items are sold. Trade credit is given instantly, and may only be used as store credit. Trade credit never converts to cash, and never expires.
No, you may come in anytime during business hours. However, Tuesday through Thursday is the best time if you want to avoid a delay. We're open seven days a week, 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M Monday though Saturday, and 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday. We are closed on major holidays.
We take men's and women's clothing, shoes, and accessories—including scarves, hats, belts, and purses. We deal in vintage and contemporary costume jewelry, and although we sell silver and semi precious stones, we are generally not interested in contemporary gold, precious stones, or fine estate jewelry. For high-end and estate pieces, we highly recommend our friends up the street, Renaissance Jewelry.
Everything has to be clean, in excellent shape, of good quality, and in keeping with Boomerang's overall sensibility, whether classic, contemporary, or vintage. Higher end labels sell the best for us—Anthropologie, Lux, Penguin, Michael Kors, True Religion, Citizens of Humanity, Seven Jeans, Betsey Johnson, Diesel, Lucky, Free People, Prada, et al.—but a fantastic no-name item in keeping with our overall style is fine by us, as well as good items from inexpensive chains like Forever 21, H&M, and Charlotte Russe. We also do well with standards like J. Crew, Gap, and Banana Republic. We do not accept anything stained or torn, and ultimately we select items based on how quickly we believe they will sell. With over a decade in business, we know our customer and we’re extremely judicious—we don't waste space with items that don't move quickly. Shoes need to be in nearly-new shape.
We don't take items like used swims suits, lingerie, and sports apparel, and anything of really poor quality—even if it's still got the tags—simply because they were inexpensive to begin with and have no resale value, or appeal to our customers.
We do keep a wish list, but often our stock moves so quickly that we're unable to meet every request. But you might get lucky!
We've sold Pucci, Ossie Clark, Norell, Marimekko, Bonnie Cashin, Pauline Trigere, Elsa Schiaparelli, Halston, Diane Von Furstenberg, and Dior, although high-end vintage is not our focus and that sort of stock appears in the store very hit-and-miss.
